You need to call the labor board and ask, I know I got laid off back in 1999 with a one week notice. Go apply for unemployment. The company where I worked closed. I got laid off and was advice just only 3 days before, can I sue ?
It's America............you can sue for anything!!! Sorry about your job though that is a drag.
NOT TRUE. YOU CAN BE LAID OFF WITH NO NOTICE. IT'S UP TO THE COMPANY.
Whomever told you that is a legal idiot.
Unless you have a collective bargaining agreement with a union you have no such rights or case.
What are you going to sue for? The company closed, they probably went bankrupt. Would you rather have worked and not gotten paid? These things happen and you really have no grounds for suit. That is why there is unemployment insurance that you are now eligible for because the company closed!
You can TRY anything---I guess it depends on your state---but I know people here in PA that got laid off with no notice--
First off, STRYKE READ the sentence. The statement said that the company laid her off three days AFTER the notice to close.
Actually the law says 60 days. Please see link below.
