My mother placed their household goods and truck in storage in AK and moved back to LA. They made regular storage payments on the goods while they saved money to have it shipped. I tried to help raise money and found another company that was cheaper to move everything. When we called to let them know that we had a guy that was in Canada on his way to AK to pick up everything, they said that her truck was still in storage but her household goods had been shipped to Montana. My mother never gave consent for this and was under the impression that everything was still in AK. Would the storage/moving company be responsible for the move from AK to MO. Because we have already starting paying a second company to pick up everything from AK?Moving Company Legal Advice???Help?
While I am not a lawyer, I would frst read my contract to see exactly what it says. They may have the right to move your items to another location but it would have to be spelled out in your contract and they should have (I believe) notified you prior. This may also be a ploy to get you to use their services. I would check with the BBB for complaints and check with your District Attorney.
