Lately,I've become a much more serious writer. I've begun a teen romantic about a boy and girl who meet on vacation. Boy teaches girl how to ';live life to its fullest'; and they ';fall in love'; They then are seperated by girls parents and meet again years later in girls small town. I knbwo that's not alot of info...but if you want more just tell me. I need to start thinking of a serious publishing company that i may actually have a chance with. :] Any tips/advice are welcomed!! Here is a site that gives publishers of short stories and novels.

First off, you need to make sure you have taken the time to edit and reedit your manuscript over and over again until there is no question in your mind that all grammar and spellings are absolutely spotless.

Second, you need to make sure there are no holes in your manuscript. By holes, I mean that there are no contradictions in what you've said in the beginning that will show later on in the work. Blonde hair and blue eyes end up brown hair and brown eyes somewhere down the line. Keep notes of all your main characters names, what they look like, etc...

If you really want a literary agent, publisher or editor to take you seriously, you need to make sure you can write an effective query letter. This, too, must be free of errors. If you can't write a simple letter, how can you expect to write a novel? Errors in your letters are instant rejections.

All your work must be formatted properly. This is called 'Industry Standard Format.' The best way to learn all these things is to go to your favorite bookstore and buy a few books on writing. I say buy, because you can mark them up with yellow pen in places that interest you. The library would frown upon this.

Get a copy of Writers Market 2007. This is a must.

First you have to complete your book before you even think about trying to get a publisher. Unfortunately, not too many publishers will take you serious unless your writing and story telling abilities are superior.

I don't want to put a damper on your enthusiasm, but your story seems really cliche. You need to step it up and try to be more original.

Then, you need to buy the current Writer's Market and research the market you are writing for (teen romance). Find out which publishers are accepting manuscripts and read their submission guidelines. **Note: most publisher do not accept unsolicited manuscripts.

You should also write a synopsis for your book. This will come in handy when you send your query letters (a letter asking a publisher to read your manuscript). It is a lot of work trying to get a publisher to even read your manuscript. Be prepared for a lot of rejections. But, if you are serious, you need to push past them. Some rejections may have reasons why your manuscript was rejected. Use that information to revise. You will be doing many revisions.

BTW: I don't recommend self-publishing unless you have exhausted all other avenues.

Good luck!!
