Do I take my current boss' advice on new job offer with another company?

I am a recent finance grad at 27, and have been with the same small business since I was 17. I've learned the ins and outs from the front lines, to operations, to financials, advertising, HR, I guess basically an operations manager...I got a job offer as a Customer Service Manger running a call center for another company w/salary of 37500..currently make a little less...she thinks I should hold out for a bigger firm, this one is about 100 employees, and look for more money, comp car, etc...she is even willing to pay for a professional resume writer for me...Is she right? I am second guessing myself a little, but I think she is shooting too high for me...I always thought you have to work your way up from somewhere and never thought I could really get a job like that right out of school...Please help!!!Do I take my current boss' advice on new job offer with another company?
Does she want to lose you? If you've been there for 10 years, I guess you're more family than employee.

She's right-Hold out for more. Be confident. The wide exposure at small companies is in high demand by other firms. You need to recognize which firms will appreciate you. Typical large firms will stick you in a routine job. Coming from your background, you may get bored. Your experience will qualify you for some sort of operational management job immediately.

Don't sell yourself short and have expectations. Negotiate with confidence and don't feel guilty about it.

Good Luck!Do I take my current boss' advice on new job offer with another company?
maybe your current boss wants to keep you...

bigger firms are not necessarily better jobs.

i'd say take your dream job now unless your current

employer can match or beat it.

don't hold out.
Sounds like your current company wants to get rid of you. What boss would really advise their employee to take another opportunity??? Honestly?? If you were REALLY valued at your current job, your boss would NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS ';advise'; you to take another position, no matter what it payed/benefits...whatever. You could explain your side of the story with a million words and I still would think the same. FACT.....if you were a VALUED employee where you work, they WOULD NEVER even slightly promote the idea of you working elsewhere.
My guess is you and your boss should be close right. Otherwise you would not be sharing with her that you got a job offer.

Although the money is not that great, it is a good that you get some experience working in a actual team. Let's pretend you are the employer, would you want to hire someone who has the experience with small business, has the management skill and is able to lead a team.

Be polite to your boss and explain to her that you want the experience working with a bigger team and leave on a good note.
