Is it possible to hire a van here in England, fill it up with my stuff, get the ferry over to Ireland and drop it off in Dublin?
Any ideas?

try yellowstripe.net or call 00353862345243. i used this guy to move from ireland to the uk. his name is ron.
sell everything they have shops there now, where you moving from,??
yeah, don't come!!!
That's possible but Ireland is A LOT more expensive than what a moving company costs.
Also if you are renting a place in Ireland most places come with furniture.
I moved from Belfast to Scotland in a hired van. I know they are both UK, but there must be companies who cover ROI %26amp; UK that you can pick up %26amp; drop off in different places.
Check out if there is a ';Lets'; program in your area. If not start one. Instead of $$$ you use ';lets'; $$$.
Can also use 50% reg $$$ %26amp; 50% ';Lets'; $$$
It like an advance: ';Pay it Forward'; idea.
I'm in Canada %26amp; our ';Lets'; program is great
try thrifty van hire they are both in uk and dublin also enterprise van hire beleive it or not a lot of companies will NOT let you bring a hired van to the ROI
Sure you can do that. My boyfriend came over from Scotland to Ireland.
Although the ferry fees are a rip off for vans (last time I looked it was 拢350 one way) so you might want to check if it is worth it !
To rent a van, you must determine what size you want first. Then go onto a comparator webiste :-)
Yeah, you should just rent a little van and ferry it over. I tried out pick up in London and drop-off in Dublin and that's not a problem....See Hertz below for example.
I did not move from England but from the continent and I did it by van. However, my advice is that this is only worth while if you haven't got too much stuff and it really all fits into a smallish van. Otherwise you'll be paying a huge amount on the ferry crossing. Also take into account that you may have to bring the can back to England and that will cost additional petrol and ferry!!! Hiring a van only one-way may not be possible - as way the case with my moving. In the end I organized it privately.
PS: If you are only moving temporarily to Dublin I would even consider not bringing much stuff. Most rented accomodation here comes furnished, anyway, so you mightn't need your stuff...
Buddy if you cant afford to rent a van you have f**k all chance of being able to afford to live in Ireland.
IF IT'S A SMALL AMOUNT..RENT IN ENGLAND , LARGE...RENT IN IRELAND...LESS HASTLE . FERRY IS THE ONLY WAY . GO TO THE MIDLANDS ..CHEAPER HOUSES...GO TO CITIES...MORE JOBS . MIGHT BE WORTH CHECKING OUT BUYING A VAN IF YOU NEED ONE FOR WORK .
V.R.T. IS ALMOST ZERO ON A FIVE YEAR OLD VAN , RE-REG AFTER A WHILE .
