Company merge advice?

When a company is purchased, what are the chances of management employees keeping their jobs? Especially one of 11 yrs?Company merge advice?
Hard to tell, but it's a pretty sure bet that SOME people will lose their jobs.Company merge advice?
I have been through 2 mergers, first one we kept our jobs, the second one we got laid off. I was fortunate to be moved to another part of the company in a different role. The problem was, anytime anybody left our office, they were replaced in the company's home office, in another city / state. Eventually when there we 10 of us left, those folks who were in it for the long haul, they decided to lay us all off. So it depends on the company and thier intentions for you. For us it was clear they did not want a second office and wanted everything to run from thier home office, as much as they told us they valued what we brought. So for 6 months we were essentailly training our replacements, without knowing it. I was laid off twice by the same company...
Not good. Most of the time they will have other people to fill management positions or they could consolidate management positions if they are merging 2 companies(keeps their costs down).

What's really sad is that most situations they will play all nice with you until it's a good time for them to dump you. If you really like what you're doing, make up a list of your accomplishments in the company and treat your situation as a job interview process. I promise you that they will at least be doing some serious evaluation of managers in the new company.

Get ready, be prepared and get your job prospects set up. If the hammer comes down then at the very least you'll be ready to move to your next position.

Good Luck!
