I have been in the house 5 years and it's in Central Ohio--1954 house-old. Any advice is appreciated maybe by someone who has gone through it....Today I received notice from the GAS company that I have a service line leak and need to get repair--advice?
Call the gas company back and ask them to fix it. They will charge you, but at least it will be taken care of. Im supprised they didnt offer to fix it. Hmmmm, are you sure it was the gas company, and not someone else...Today I received notice from the GAS company that I have a service line leak and need to get repair--advice?
2 observations 1) the leak must be on your side of the meter - the gas company is doing you a service since you must pay for the leakage. 2) the leak must be outside of your living area or you would smell the gas. Often a leak occurs immediately at your side of the meter. Ask the gas company for a quote or call a plumber qualified for gas.
In some areas the gas company will do it and charge you for it. They would be your best source for service either reccommendations or the actual work.
Talk to the office and see if they will do it and buget it for you. Most companies we have dealt with are very nice and helpful.
Well it should of been red tagged. And shut off.The leak must be on your side of the meter.yOU NEED TO CONTACT THE LANDLORD unless you're a home owner then you need a repairman unless you know a plumber.
Whoa! Will your homeowner's insurance cover such a thing? I hope so. At least the gas company told you...better than having your house blow up in the middle of the night. Good luck with it!
unfortunately, call and get it done- may be expensive, but cheaper than house going into low earth orbit.
